ARLINGTON, Va. - The Stevenson women's tennis team dropped its fall opener to host Marymount (Va.) by a 6-3 score.
Shelby Carter opened up her collegiate career with a 6-3, 7-6 victory, while
Erin Saunders cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win.Â
Torriene Emery (No. 1) and
Tiffany Njemanze (No. 4) dropped their singles matches by scores of 6-3, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-4.
Sofia McCoy overcame a one-set deficit but would eventually fall in a third set tiebreaker, 10-5.Â
The lone doubles win came from Njemanze and McCoy, who took their No. 3 match by an 8-6 score.
Stevenson competes next at the three-day ITA Regionals starting on Saturday, September 23.Â
