Oni joins women's soccer staff as Assistant Coach

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson University is pleased to announce that Albert Oni is coming on board to serve as an assistant coach on the women's soccer staff. Oni comes to Stevenson with tons of experience and success at all levels of coaching.

Oni, founder of Oni Premier Soccer Academy (OPSA), has helped develop teams that compete in several of the country's top college showcase tournaments. The OPSA teams participate in the highest leagues and have won the prestigious Maryland State Cup tournament in both outdoor soccer and futsal, multiple times.The OPSA also joined the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) and earned the Coastal Conference Franchise of the Year award following their first year within the league. The WPSL also awarded Oni Coach of the Year for the East Region in 2012, when he coached the ASA Chesapeake Charge. 

Oni served as the Severn School girls' varsity head soccer coach from 2013-22, and served in many other positions throughout the school including a physical education teacher and middle school basketball and tennis coach. Prior to Severn, Oni served a two year tenure as Towson University's Assistant Coach for the women's soccer team from 2010-2012. Playing in the highly competitive CAA conference, the team also competed outside the conference against national powers from the ACC, Big East, and Big 10 conferences. During his time at Towson, he gained experience recruiting, scouting, training, scheduling, supporting student athletes, and organizing college ID camps.

Oni's playing experience in college began at the Essex Community College prior to moving onto UMBC to finish his collegiate career, clinch a Big South Conference Title, and complete his degree. Oni then moved on to played both indoor and outdoor soccer professionally. He began his playing career with the Washington Warthogs in the CISL and ended with the Baltimore Spirit in the NPSL after a career ending knee injury. After retirement, Albert returned to school to complete a Sport Management degree from Towson University.

We are proud to welcome Albert Oni and all of his years of experience to our program and look forward to his successes as an assistant coach.
