VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- The Stevenson field hockey team opened up the 2022 season with a 6-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan, Thursday afternoon.
The Mustangs were off to a hot start scoring two of their sixth goals in the first quarter. At the 4:53 minute mark, Meghan Huey brought in the first goal for Stevenson. Almost five minutes later, Haley Palmer assisted Nicole Ziegler following a penaly corner. The following quarter was a little bit slower, as the Marlins started off with strong posession. At the 24 minute mark, Abbygail Hurst fired in an unassisted goal. On the Mustangs fourth goal at the 26 minute mark, Alexa DeFeo assisted Emma Gladstein.
The Mustangs were quick to posses in the third quarter just three minutes in, Macy Kosanovich assisted Gladstein on the third goal of the game. A few minutes later after a Stevenson penalty corner, Gladstein assisted Rylee Leakway on a goal. The final quarter was scoreless as Virginia Wesleyan held possession tallying five shots while holding Stevenson to zero.
