Morgan Bitting enters her fifth season at the helm of the Mustangs for the 2026 season.
At the helm of the program, Bitting led the team to their most successful season in history in 2025, winning their first MAC Commonwealth Championship, while hosting an NCAA First Round contest. She led players to hit high accolades, as Shae Bennett was named the team's first ever NFHCA First Team All-American, while in her five seasons as head coach she has had two students-athletes receive NFHCA All-American honors, and six All-Region V honorees.
Bitting was selected to be a Senior Nexus Coach for the tournament in Virginia Beach, Va., which place on July 11-16, 2023. She was the only Division III head coach selected out of coaches from multiple Division I institutions to coach in this tournament.
Bitting comes to Stevenson after spending two seasons as the assistant field hockey coach at the University of Delaware. During her time at University of Delaware, the Blue Hens won back-to-back CAA Championships and advanced to the NCAA tournament in the spring and fall of 2021. Prior to her time with the Blue Hens, Bitting was an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon College. While at Delaware and Randolph-Macon, she planned practices, scouted opponents, conducted team and individual video sessions, and assisted with recruiting efforts. Bitting also served as a coach, site administrator, and social media coordinator for Focus Field Hockey Club during her time in Virginia.
Before coaching, Bitting enjoyed a decorated playing career at Duke University from 2015-to 2018. A three-year starter and four-year letter winner, Bitting, was a team captain, was awarded the 2019 Duke True Award, and was a Heidrick Family Leadership Postgraduate Scholarship recipient. Bitting was also recognized on the Dean's List, ACC Academic Honor Roll, NFHCA National Academic Squad, and was a two-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction. The Blue Devils made one Final Four and three Elite Eight appearances during her career. Off the field, Bitting was highly involved in leadership and community activities. She was a mentor in the First Year ACTION Program, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), and chair of the Student-Athlete Talent and Recognition Show (STARS).
Bitting earned her bachelor's degree in Sociology with a certificate in Markets and Management Studies and a minor in Education from Duke in 2019. She completed her master's of Sports Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2021. Bitting currently holds a USA Field Hockey Level I Coaching license.
At the conclusion of the 2024 season, Bitting was named MAC Commonwealth Co-Coach of the Year. She led the Mustangs to be ranked by the NFHCA several times, landing as high as 22nd in the nation.
