Box Score NAPLES, Fla. -- The 18th-ranked Stevenson women's lacrosse team dropped the initial game of its spring break trip, 21-6, to FDU-Florham on Tuesday night.
Stevenson falls to 2-4 on the season following consecutive home victories before the trip. Meanwhile, FDU-Florham improves to 3-1 on the season.
Stevenson cracked the top 20 nationally, entering the week ranked 18th in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Top 20, also receiving votes in the IWLCA poll. FDU-Florham was also receiving votes in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Top 20, setting up an intriguing matchup between two teams on the opposite sides of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC).
Caroline Murphy and McKenna Blick paced the Mustangs with two goals each and Sophie Shucosky made 17 saves.
FDU-Florham was consistent throughout the net, pulling ahead to 12-4 at halftime. Lizzy Escudero posted seven goals, while Kylee Garcia registered five.
The Mustangs were held scoreless in the third quarter as FDU expanded its lead to 17-4.
Stevenson finishes out its spring break trip to Florida later this week against Rhodes.
