STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson women's tennis team fell in its regular-season finale to visiting Alvernia by a score of 5-4 at the Stevenson Courts. The loss dropped the Mustangs' record to 3-3 in MAC Commonwealth play.
The Mustangs won all three of the doubles matches, but would lose five of six in singles play.
Senior Megan Waskiewicz and sophomore Torrienne Emery picked up their third doubles win on the year with 8-7 (7-4) triumph in No. 1. Senior Esha Kashmiri and junior Jacquelyn Nesbeth won their second match of the year in an 8-5 triumph, while freshmen Alexandria Kramer and Kera Skove won in No. 3 by an 8-4 score.
Nesbeth won her third match of the year in No. 3 in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).
Emery fell in her No. 1 singles match by 6-3, 6-0 score, while Waskiewicz dropped her No. 2 matchup by a 6-1, 6-3 margin.
Kramer lost a tough match in No. 6 by 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 score, while Kashmiri and Skove lost in straight sets.
The fourth-seeded Mustangs will take on fifth-seeded Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth Quarterfinals on Tuesday, May 4 at the Stevenson Courts.
