Murphy Records 100th-Career Goal as Mustangs Defeat LVC to Advance to Semifinals

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Junior Caroline Murphy scored her 100th career goal as the Stevenson women's lacrosse team defeated Lebanon Valley, 15-12, in the MAC Commonwealth quarterfinals Tuesday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.

  • Stevenson (10-3, 5-3 MACC) put in the first goal of the game when Caroline Murphy just under seven minutes into the first half.
  • Lebanon Valley (6-7, 3-4 MACC) reeled off two goals in at the 22:42 mark, Erin Zieber found the back of the net on a free position shot, and Jaclyn Little extended the lead by one a little over one minute later from Sydney Zimmerman.
  • At the 20:21 mark, the Dutchmen extended their lead when Veronica Venezia assisted a Brittany Hathaway goal to extend their lead by two, 3-1.
  • Kara Yarusso brought Stevenson within one of the Dutchmen at the 16:37 mark as her goal slipped behind the Dutchmen's goalie, Julia Abendschoen.
  • With 12:33 remaining in the half, Bailey Dills scored the Dutchmen's fourth goal of the game. Murphy responded two minutes later on a free position shot.
  • A Hannah Huff goal gave the Mustangs the lead, 5-4, with nine minutes remaining until intermission.
  • With 3:33 remaining, Mary Marc closed out scoring on a Huff assist to extend Stevenson's lead by two.

  • Following a Murphy goal just under one minute into the second half, Lebanon Valley's Zimmerman scored on a free position to bring the Dutchmen back within one, 6-7.
  • Murphy scored her 100th-career goal at the 26:01 mark, her fifth goal of the game, and 45th goal of the season.
  • Huff notched her second goal of the day from a Caity Schaefer assist to extend the Mustangs lead back by three, 9-6.

  • The Mustangs scored three consecutive goals to take the lead back with goals from Yarusso, Murphy, and Tea Ferrara.
  • Two goals by the Dutchmen's Venezia just three minutes apart put them within 12-11 with 9:52 to play.
  • In the closing three minutes, Marc netted her second goal of the game and Yarusso netted her third and fourth extending their lead by four, 15-11.
  • Emily Beard closed out scoring for Lebanon Valley with 28 seconds remaining in regulation.
