Women's Lacrosse Falls on the Road to No. 13 Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. - Juniors Caroline Murphy and Mary Marc eached totaled two goals as the Stevenson women's lacrosse team fell to No. 13 Messiah on Wednesday night at Messiah Lacrosse Turf for their final game of the regular season.

 

  • Messiah (13-0, 8-0 MACC) scored the opening five goals for the Falcons capped by a Makenzie Schnur goal at just under seven minutes into the first half.
  • Lan Le Crotty found Murphy for a Stevenson (9-3, 4-3 MACC) goal at the 21:34 mark.
  • Following a Grace Gormley goal for Messiah at the 18:36 mark, Marc responded one minute later to bring the Mustangs within four.
  • Following one save from Caroline Ready and two from Sophie Shucosky, Messiah was able to get in two goals by Emma Lytle and Rachel Delate on a free position with 4:39 remaining.
  • With less than three minutes remaining in the half, Marc scored her second goal of the game to make it a 3-9 game.
  • Delate closed out scoring from Schnur to extend the Falcons lead by seven.

  • A free position goal by Murphy just under five minutes into the second half brought the Mustangs within six of the Falcons.
  • The Falcons extended their lead to 13-4 after three consecutive goals in the 19th and 20th minute.
  • Shucosky made two consecutive saves when Abby Howard and Hope Flack tried to find the back of the Mustangs goal.
  • Messiah netted the two final goals of the game by Amanda Wadsworth at 9:00 and Delate with 8:19 remaining.
  • Shucosky made four saves for the Mustangs in the final seven minutes.

  • Messiah outshot Stevenson 40-16. While the Mustangs were 1-for-2 on free position shots and the Falcons were 2-for-3.
  • Kaitlyn Kozlowski finished with five draw controls on the game, her sixth time this season with five or more draw controls. She also totaled four ground balls.
  • Shucosky recorded four ground balls and Kirsten Foster totaled three.
  • Shannon Snyder finished with two caused turnovers.
  • The Falcons recorded 11 of the 21 draw controls and held a 25-17 lead in ground balls.
