Murphy Nets Five As Mustangs Top Stevens in Opener

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Junior Caroline Murphy totaled five goals, four caused turnovers, four draw controls and three ground balls as the Stevenson women's lacrosse team opened its 2021 season with a 12-4 victory over the MAC Freedom's Stevens Saturday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.

  • The Ducks (0-1) took a 1-0 lead just 40 seconds into the game.
  • Murphy scored her first goal of the game at the 25:12 mark to tie things 1-1.
  • Stevenson (1-0) reeled off three straight free position goals by Kaitlyn Kozlowski, Lan Le Crotty and Murphy to build a 4-1 lead 38 seconds past the midway point of the first half.
  • Hannah Huff extended the Mustang lead to 5-1 with just over 13 minutes left before intermission.
