OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Junior Caroline Murphy totaled five goals, four caused turnovers, four draw controls and three ground balls as the Stevenson women's lacrosse team opened its 2021 season with a 12-4 victory over the MAC Freedom's Stevens Saturday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.

• The Ducks (0-1) took a 1-0 lead just 40 seconds into the game.
• Murphy scored her first goal of the game at the 25:12 mark to tie things 1-1.
• Stevenson (1-0) reeled off three straight free position goals by Kaitlyn Kozlowski, Lan Le Crotty and Murphy to build a 4-1 lead 38 seconds past the midway point of the first half.
• Hannah Huff extended the Mustang lead to 5-1 with just over 13 minutes left before intermission.
• Stevens and the Mustangs traded goals the rest of the half, with a tally by Mary Marc with 4:41 left before halftime making it 7-3, which was the halftime score.

• Crotty scored just under eight minutes into the second half to extend Stevenson's lead.
• Kara Yarusso scored her first goal in a Mustang uniform at the 21:31 mark, then Murphy scored her fourth goal just over a minute later to make it a 10-3 contest.
• With 15:57 left, Kyra Bednarski scored a man-up goal for the Ducks to make it 10-4.
• Murphy scored her fifth and final goal at 11:48 before Yarusso recorded her second off an assist from Marc at the 9:10 mark to close out the scoring.

• Stevenson outshot Stevens 25-20.
• The Mustangs were 4-5 on free position shots, while the Ducks went 1-3.

• Murphy's five goals matched a career high that she achieved four times as a freshman in 2019.

• Stevenson returns to action next Saturday, traveling to former MAC Commonwealth and current MAC Freedom foe Arcadia for a 1:00 non-conference contest.
