FREDERICK, Md. - Stevenson University men's swimming opened their regular season against Hood on Saturday afternoon, the men fell to the Blazers 118-44.
In an exhibition 200-yard medley relay, Haden Welsh, Micah Ernest, Ian D'Angiolillo, and Stephen Kratzer swam their way to a time of 1:52.87. Almost six seconds faster than their time in the fall during a scrimmage.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Kratzer and Ernest collect third and fourth place with times of 2:07.71 and 2:09.87.
Ernest came back in the 50-yard freestyle to swim a 26.12, to place him in third for the Mustangs.
D'Angiolillio narrowly missed the first place spot in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:09.17, first place Patrick Krol for Hood got his hand on the wall at 2:09.11. D'Angiolillio then swam his third event back-to-back of the meet in the 100-yard butterfly where he collected his first collegiate win for the Mustangs.
Respectively, Brian Brown and Welsh swam their way to third and fourth place in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 1:00.24 and 1:01.88.
Welsh then got his hand on the wall for second place in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:19.87.
D'Angiolillo and Brown swam in the 500-yard freestyle to take second and fourth place, D'Angiolillo swam a 5:31.45 and Brown swam a 5:46.82.
Kratzer took second in the 100-yard breaststoke at 1:13.36.
Collecting four points in second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay was Welsh, Brown, Kratzer, and Ernest at 1:42.19.
Next week, the swimming teams will participate in a MAC virtual pentathlon on Saturday, March 13.
