GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Stevenson men's swimming team traveled to Messiah on Saturday afternoon for a dual meet, falling to Messiah 135-65. First year Ian D'Angiolillo broke the 400 Individual Medley record to swim a final time of 4:38.41. The preiours record set in 2016 was by Jaq Leon in 4:53.01, D'Angiolillo's new record is 15 seconds faster.
The Mustangs relay team of haden Welsh, Stephen Kratzer, Ian D'Angiolillo, and Micah Ernest finished third in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:56.14.
Brian Brown swam his way to a second place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at 11:48.63.
Kratzer got his hand on the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle in a season best 1:56.56 to out touch Messiah's Frankie Salvi. Kratzer also collected a third place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:19.69.
Ian D'Angiolillo also added a first place finish for the Mustangs in the 200-yard butterfly, at 2:04.48.
Ernest and D'Angiolillo finished second and third in the 50-yard freestyle for the Mustangs, swimming 25.62 and 27.01, respectively.
Stevenson collected third place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle, Brown swam a 1:01.71, 200-yard backstroke, Welsh swam a 2:47.66, 200-yard breaststroke, Ernest swam a 2:48.18, in the 500-yard freestyle, Kratzer swam a 6:02.21.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Ernest finished third in 1:06.02 and Brown finished fourth in 1:18.71.
D'Angiolillo got his second win of the day and first record of his career as a Mustang in the 400-yard individual medley at 4:38.41 to out touch Messiah's Brett Gaff.
The Stevenson men swam an exhibtion 400-yard freestyle relay at 3:46.79, relay team of Kratzer, Brown, Ernest, and D'Angiolillo.
The Stevenson men's swimming team is back in action on Saturday, March 27 for a 1:00 p.m. dual meet against Lycoming.
