Mustang Women Cruise Past Arcadia, Murphy Nets Four

GLENSIDE, Pa. - Junior Caroline Murphy recorded four goals and three caused turnovers, while junior Lan Le Crotty netted three goals as the Stevenson women's lacrosse team defeated MAC Freedom's Arcadia 18-3 Saturday Afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field.

  • Stevenson (2-0) scored four goals in between the four and six minute mark to open the first half, Caity Shaefer got things started around the four minute mark, Kara Yusso had two free position goals, and Hannah Huff put one in the back of the net following a draw control by Kaitlyn Kozlowski.
  • Four minutes later, Sophie Shucosky had a save to stop a shot by Arcadia (0-2) Maddie Ruger.
  • At the nine and 10 minute mark, Mary Marc put in one free position goal and another goal by Crotty to make it a 6-0 game.
  • Crotty with two, and Yarusso and Bradley each with one goal in the final seven minutes before halftime extended the Mustangs lead by 13.
  • Shucosky had four saves on the half.

  • Ruger scored just under three minutes on a free position shot to put the Knights on the board with one.
  • Murphy scored two minutes later off a ground ball pickup by teammate Kozlowski to extend the Mustangs lead by 13, 14-1.
  • Arcadia netted it's second goal of the game almost eight minutes in the half on a Sarah Morris goal.
  • Murphy scored her fourth goal of the game following a Marc goal at the 17:26 mark.
  • In the final three minutes of the game, Stevenson posted two free position shots in the final three minutes of the game, Shaefer with 3:04 left and two minutes later Kozlowski put one in the back of the net to make for the Mustangs to pick up their second win of the season, 18-3.

  • Stevenson outshot Arcadia 39-13.
  • The Mustangs were 7-for-12 on free position shots, while the Knights went 2-for-6.

  • Stevenson travels to Delaware Valley on Saturday, March 20 for a 1:00 p.m. MAC crossover game at Lipinski Field.
