Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. -- Stevenson fell behind in the opening quarter and could not recover in a 42-28 loss to Franklin & Marshall on Saturday in the 2021 Centennial-MAC Bowl Series on Saturday.
Stevenson (5-6) posted 446 yards of total offense, but was plagued by five turnovers and nine penalties on the afternoon. Meanwhile, Franklin & Marshall (6-5) mounted a 16-0 lead and added two third-quarter touchdowns just over a minute apart to pull away for good.
Darian Littlejohn tallied 194 receiving yards and a pair of touchdown grabs on eight catches.
- Franklin & Marshall took advantage of prime starting field position following a fourth-down fumble for the Mustangs. On the next play, Keshown Farrmer broke free for a 27-yard scamper and an early touchdown, lifting the Diplomats to a 7-0 lead.
- Following a three-and-out, the Diplomats struck once again, this time with a two-yard plunge. After the missed PAT, F&M lead 13-0.
- Sedgwick's second-down pass was intercepted, which Franklin & Marshall turned into three points with a 33-yard boot.
- Each side traded punts heading into the second quarter.
- The Diplomats forced another turnover in the second, taking an interception back 18 yards for a pick-six score and a 22-0 lead.
- Stevenson strung together an impressive drive in response, starting with an 18-yard completion to Darian Littlejohn. The next play, Ryan Sedgwick raced ahead for a 37-yard gain before capping the drive with a six-yard completion to Brandon Booze.
- Stevenson received the kickoff for the second half, driving down the field for a big score. The Mustangs drove 74 yards in eight plays, capped by a 16-yard strike in the back corner of the endzone to Littlejohn. Brody Campbell drilled the PAT, trimming the Stevenson deficit to 22-14.
- Franklin & Marshall answered back with a pair of touchdowns, separated by just over one minute, to take control at 36-14.
- Stevenson reeled off consecutive completions of 17 and 29 yards, setting the Mustangs up for a four-yard completion to Tylor Blake to close out a nine-play drive.
- Cory Nowlan hauled in an interception on the second play of the quarter, but the ensuing drive stalled for the Mustangs with an interception in the F&M endzone.
- The Diplomats took advantage of a short field, finding the endzone on a 28-yard pass. Stevenson blocked the extra point attempt as the Diplomats led 42-21.
- On just the third play of the next drive, Sedgwick connected with Littlejohn for a 78-yard score.
- Both defenses stood tall over the final four drives of the game, allowing F&M to take a knee and close out the contest.
- Saturday marked the seventh-straight postseason appearance for the Mustangs, also marking the first meeting between Stevenson and Franklin & Marshall in football.
- Littlejohn finished the season with 1,051 receiving yards, good for third all-time on the program's single-season record book. He had five games with over 100 receiving yards, including three of the last four contests.
- Stevenson rattled off a nine-play drive spanning 70 yards to get on the board for the final score of the opening half with just under six minutes remaining.
- Franklin & Marshall forced three turnovers in the opening half, all coming by way of interception.
- Stevenson ran 42 plays compared to just 26 for F&M in the opening half, owing the time of possession margin despite trailing.
