OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson women's swimming team opened their 2020-21 season with a virtual swim meet against Hood on Saturday, October 24th at the Henry A. Rosenberg Aquatic Center. The women took home a win against the Blazers in a narrow 83-75 win.
Opening the virtual meet for the women was the 200-yard medley relay team of Hannah Rummel, Jennie Hudson, Emily Wolff, and Sadie Arwood taking home a first place finish with a final time of 2:10.84, just one second in front of their opponents.
Alice Ricci and Zoe Pflieger opened individual competition in the 200-yard freestyle. Ricci finished third with a time of 2:25.44 and Pflieger in fourth with a final time of 2:43.07.
Hudson scored her second win of the meet in the 100-yard breastroke, out-touching her competition by .10 with a final time of 1:19.79. Her teammate, Zoe Dennis finished in third place in 1:20.14, and Megan Taylor finished in sixth place in a 1:36.35.
The women took the top-three slots in the 50-yard freestyle for the day, Dennis finsihed first in 30.38, Pfleiger in 30.42, and Arwood at 30.46.
Ricci and Wolff took second and third place in the 100-yard butterfly. Wolff finished in 1:10.41 while Ricci finished in 1:16.01, respectively.
Emily Mata took a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:22.86.
Arwood came back to compete in the 100-yard freestyle to take a her second third-place finish of the day in 1:14.27.
In the last individual event of the day, Wolff, Rummel, and Hudson took second, third and fourth-place in the 200-yard Indiviudal Medley in 2:37.30, 2:45.49, and 2:51.94, respectively.
To end the virtual meet on a high note, Mata, Taylor, Dennis, and Ricci swam their way to a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:09.90.
