Ferrara Ties Draw Control Record in Win at Albright

READING, Pa. - Stevenson women's lacrosse freshman Tea Ferrara tied the single season record with nine draw controls as the Mustangs remained unbeaten in MAC Commonwealth play with a 14-7 victory over Albright Wednesday evening at Gene L. Shirk Stadium.

  • Sparked by goals just 43 seconds apart from freshman Hannah Huff and junior Carly Bowes, the Mustangs (12-3, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth) jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
  • The Lions (11-4, 5-2 MAC Commonwealth) got on the board at the 11:46 mark on a goal by Ashleigh Tortorice before Tortorice got the hosts within one with a second goal one minute later.
  • Senior Dana Stevens found the back of the net for the second time in the opening half before Bowes scored with 1:30 remaining in the half to take a three-goal lead into the break.
  • Junir Mack Ferguson made nine saves in the opening half as all 11 of Albright's shot were on frame.

  • Freshman Caroline Murphy scored 48 seconds into the second half after Huff found her on a free-position attempt.
  • Bowes recorded a hat trick with an unassisted tally before senior Gabby DiGello netted her first career goal just 24 seconds later.
  • After Albright strung together back-to-back goals, sophomore Lindsay Seipp responded with a pair herself, both assisted by Stevens, before Stevens extended the visitors lead to, 11-4.
  • Murphy extended the Mustangs lead to eight before the hosts scored two of the final three goals.

  • Stevenson, who won its eighth straight game, outshot Albright, 35-23, including 16-8 in the second period.
  • Ferrara is the fourth player to record nine draw controls in a game.
  • It is the seventh game of the season for Bowes with at least four goals, including the third straight. She is just five goals shy of tying the single season record.
