Women's Tennis Downs LVC in MAC Commonwealth Opener

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Stevenson women's tennis team improved to 5-3 on the year after defeating host Lebanon Valley by a 5-4 score in its MAC Commonwealth opener.

The Mustangs took control of the match early by taking all three of the doubles matches. 

Juniors Jenna Skove and Kelsi Mentzer won a thrilling 8-7 (7-5) match in No. 1, improving their record to 6-5 on the season. Senior Kirstyn Davidson and sophomore Megan Waskiewicz picked up an 8-5 triumph in their No. 2 match to move to 6-5 on the year. In No. 3, junior Nina Bretz and sophomore Taelor Brown notched an 8-4 win to move to .500 as a team (3-3).

The Mustangs closed out the match by picking up wins in both No. 1 and 2 singles. 

Skove took her No. 1 match in straight sets by a 7-5, 6-3 margin, while Davidson cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 2. The win improves Davidson's singles record to 7-6. 

Waskiewicz and Bretz dropped their matches by the same 7-5, 6-2 score. Mentzer and senior Christina Endy both fell in straight sets.

The Mustangs will look to remain undefeated in conference play when they take on Lycoming on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m.
