HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Stevenson women's tennis team improved its record to 4-3 on the year after taking down Allegheny by a 5-4 score in its final spring break match in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Juniors Jenna Skove and Kelsi Mentzer opened up the match with a solid 8-6 victory in No. 1 doubles, giving them their fifth win on the year.
Senior Kirstyn Davidson and sophomore Megan Waskiewicz dropped their No. 2 match by an 8-6 margin. Junior Nina Bretz and freshman Jacquelyn Nesbeth picked up a thriling victory in No. 3 by a 8-7 (8-6) score.
Nesbeth won a first-set tiebreak before taking the second set in her No. 5 match, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3.
Davidson and senior Christina Endy picked up two decisive victories for the Mustangs, with both players taking their respective matches in third-set tiebreaks.
Davidson earned her sixth win of the year in her 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) triumph in No. 2 singles, while Endy won her No. 6 match by a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) margin.
The Mustangs open up conference play at Lebanon Valley on Saturday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m.
