OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University women's basketball team trailed No. 8 Messiah by just two at halftime and cut a 19-point deficit to seven late, but a third-quarter surge by the Falcons lifted them to their 14th straight win, a 56-47 decision in MAC Commonwealth action Wednesday night at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

• After three ties, Stevenson (6-9, 1-5 MAC Commonwealth) took an 8-6 lead at the 4:36 mark on a basket by Jonyae Curry.
• Messiah (14-1, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth) scored 12 straight points to build an 18-8 lead on a Megan Zimmerman basket with 57 seconds left.
• A basket by Olivia Coleman with 27 seconds remaining halted the Falcon run and the Mustangs trailed 18-10 after one.

• Hannah Crist came up with a steal and a layup on the opening inbounds pass by Messiah to cut the lead to 18-12.
• Stevenson opened the second half on a 10-0 run and a fast-break layup by Brandi Hall with 7:57 on the clock put the Mustangs up 20-18.
• The guests countered with a 10-0 run and Alecia Rohrer's basket at the 4:37 mark put the Falcons back up eight, 28-20.
• A 9-0 Mustang run capped by back-to-back baskets by Laila Abdul-Rahman put Stevenson up 29-28 with 1:09 left before the break.
• Becca Isaac's three with 43 seconds left put Messiah on top 31-29, which remained the halftime score.

• Messiah scored the first four points of the frame to increase its lead to six.
• After a steal and layup by Denia Campbell with 3:20 remaining, Messiah scored the final six points of the quarter and took a 49-34 lead into the fourth.

• Messiah scored twice in the first minute of the fourth to extend its lead to 19, 53-34.
• Hall broke an over six-minute scoring drought for the Mustangs with a basket at the 6:42 mark.
• After a free throw by the Falcons made it 54-38 midway through the half, Stevenson scored nine straight points to pull within seven, 54-47, with 1:26 remaining on a Campbell basket.
• Maci Thornton, who scored her 1,000th career point earlier in the game, ended an eight-plus minute field goal drought for Messiah with 56 seconds to go to account for the final.

• Messiah won its 14th straight game.
• The Falcons shot 39.1% from the floor while Stevenson shot 34.4%.  The Mustangs held a 44-32 rebounding advantage.
• Stevenson held the Falcons to a season-low 56 points.
• Campbell led the Mustangs with 12 points and four assists.
• Crist connected on a pair of three-pointers and finished with 10 points and five rebounds, reaching double figures in scoring for the 10th straight game.
• Curry had eight points and matched her career high with 13 rebounds.
• Hall added eight points and five boards.

• Stevenson hosts Widener on Saturday in a 1 pm MAC Commonwealth contest at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
