Five Players Score as Mustangs Cruise to a 5-0 Win Over St. Vincent

Box Score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Five different players found the back for the Stevenson men's soccer team as the Mustangs cruised to a 5-0 non-conference victory over St. Vincent Sunday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.

  • The Mustangs (3-3) first shot of the game found the back of the net as freshman James Rosa carried the ball through the middle of the field before playing a through ball to sophomore Pete Wickiser who beat the goalkeeper to the far right post.
  • In the 13th minute, sophomore Tariq Lee doubled the hosts lead as he carried the ball down the right side of the field before cutting the ball back into the box to elude a defender and beat the goalkeeper to the near post.
  • Sophomore Dylan Holy found the back of the net for the fourth time this season in the 17th minute as he headed in a 43-yard free kick from junior DR Medtart over the hands of goalkeeper Nick Bohn.
  • Stevenson made it 4-0 in the 34th minute with the first career goal from freshman Dale Boring. Boring dribbled past defenders before ripping a shot from 25 yards out to the top left corner.

  • Sophomore Tim Mozingo nearly connected on his first career goal in the 52nd minute as he fired a shot from the top of the box that hit off the crossbar. Medtart's follow-up shot was blocked from the top of the 18-yard box.
  • The Bearcats (0-7) had their best scoring opportunity in the 60th minute as a corner kick found the feet of Andrew Kistner but his shot was saved by freshman Jacob Kosiba.
  • Freshman Diego Guerrero extended the Mustangs lead to 5-0 in the 75th minute, converting a penalty kick low to the right corner.

  • Stevenson outshot St. Vincent, 31-5 and held an 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.
  • It is the third time this season the Mustangs have scored at least three goals and second time scoring at least five.
  • All four of Holy's goals have been headers on set pieces.
  • Medtart has an assist in half of the team's games this season.
  • It is the first career action in net for Kosiba who finished with one save in 30 minutes of action.
  • Freshman Mark Fulton played the final 15 minutes in net, his first career appearance.
  • It was just the second all-time meeting between the two schools, with the Mustangs winning 1-0 in 2014.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, September 19 when the Mustangs host a non-conference contest versus Delaware Valley beginning at 4:00 p.m.
