The Ducks (9-2) saw a six-game win streak snapped.
After a scoreless first overtime session, Stevenson sophomore Justin Burnette won his 26th faceoff of the evening to start the second extra frame, with junior Gray McKee picking up the ground ball in a scrum on the Mustang end of the field. McKee got the ball out to Christensen at midfield, who was able to race unchecked down the middle of the field, firing a strike past Stevens goalie Carson White to set off the celebration.
Stevenson had the best chance in the first sudden-victory overtime, as the Mustangs went two men up with 49 seconds to go on a pair of 30-second push calls. A shot was pushed wide right and the Ducks won the race to the end line, but were unable to get a shot off before time expired.

Burnette won the next faceoff and the Mustangs went up a man at the 2:50 mark on a Stevens slash, but turned the ball over. The Ducks held the ball until just about a minute left after the timer went on, and a shot by Ryan Kelly was saved by Stevenson goalie Sam Ross. With 19 seconds left, senior Kyle Karsian scored his fourth goal of the game to tie things, with classmate Harrison Faecher assisting. The Mustangs won the faceoff but were unable to get a shot off before time expired.
Two goals in the first 1:10 of the fourth pulled Stevenson within two, 11-9. Stevens responded 39 seconds later with a John Boutriera goal as the hosts reclaimed a three-goal lead.
The Mustangs cut a five-goal Stevens halftime lead to three with goals by McKee and Thelen to pull within 9-6. The Ducks responded with a pair of goals of their own to go back up by five, 11-6, at the 6:15 mark, before Chris Hammerquist scored with 5:01 left in the third for Stevenson.
