Mustangs Drop Season-Finale to Arcadia, Eliminated from Playoff Contention

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Stevenson women's tennis team dropped its season finale to host Arcadia by a 6-3 score. With both teams at 4-3 in conference play, the Mustang loss gives Arcadia the tiebreaker and No. 4 seed in the MAC Commonwealth semifinals.

Sophomores Jenna Skove and Kelsi Mentzer ended their season on a nine-match winning streak, taking down their No. 1 doubles opponents by a 9-8 score. Skove and Mentzer finish the year at 13-8 as a tandem.

The Mustangs dropped two hard-fought matches in the other doubles matchups. Junior Kirstyn Davidson and freshman Megan Waskiewicz fell in their No. 2 match 8-5, while freshmen Taelor Brown and Rebecca Connelly lost by a 9-7 score. 

Waskiewicz ended her freshman season with a 6-3, 1-6, 10-4 win in No. 4 singles to improve to 12-7 on the year. Sophomore Nina Bretz picked up her fourth win of the year by taking down her No. 6 opponent in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. 

Skove took the first set, but would drop the next two in a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 setback in No. 1. Skove ends the season with seven wins in singles play.
