Davila Nets Career-High Four Goals in Win Over Widener

Box Score

CHESTER, Pa. - Stevenson women's lacrosse sophomore Mallory Davila netted a career-high four goals while classmate Kiely Bunce recorded her fifth hat trick of the season as the Mustangs closed out the regular season with a 17-5 MAC Commonwealth victory over Widener Saturday afternoon at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

The Mustangs (7-9, 5-3 MAC Commonwealth) will be the fifth seed in the upcoming conference playoffs. Lebanon Valley clinched the second seed with a win over Albright, leaving Stevenson, Albright and Arcadia all at 5-3. Albright earns the three-way tiebreaker on goal differential versus both Stevenson and Arcadia while Arcadia holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Mustangs.

It was the visitors who got on the board first as freshman Lindsay Seipp found the back of the net for the 17th time this season on an assist from Bunce. It is the eighth time this season Stevenson has scored first and is 5-3 in those games. Meanwhile, Seipp has scored in three straight games and in seven of her last eight.

After the Pride (5-11, 2-6 MAC Commonwealth) tied the game just 1:49 later, the Mustangs scored six consecutive goals, including a pair of goals by both Bunce and Davila. Freshman Shannon Snyder scored her second goal of the season while sophomore Carly Bowes scored her team-leading 34th goal of the year. Stevenson outscored Widener, 11-2 in the opening half, capping the opening 30 minutes with back-to-back free-position goals by Bunce and Bowes.

Freshman Lauren Tarnowski scored a first half goal, snapping her four-game drought while junior Dana Stevens extended her point streak to three with a goal.

The Mustangs continued their run in the second half, scoring five straight goals, including three in the opening five minutes to build a 16-2 lead. Sophomore Sarah Roerty scored her fifth of the season with a free-position goal before back-to-back scores by Davila. Seipp scored her second of the game for her third consecutive multi-goal game before senior Amanda Robshaw scored for the second straight game.

Widener snapped a 30:10 scoreless drought with three consecutive goals but Stevenson answered with a pair of goals, including the second of the season by freshman Melanie Meara and the first career goal by sophomore Morgan Bateman.

Senior Jamie Bittner finished with six ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers while dishing out her third assist of the season. Sophomore Mack Ferguson totaled eight saves before giving way to junior Jess LaRosa who totaled two.

The Mustangs outshot Widener, 37-20 while finishing 4-for-12 on free-position shots.

Stevenson will travel to fourth-seeded Arcadia on Monday, April 30 in the MAC Commonwealth play-in game. Game time is TBA.
