Mustangs Drop Second Straight to Lebanon Valley, 10-6

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's lacrosse junior Gabby DiGello recorded five caused turnovers and four ground balls but the Mustangs were held to just three goals in each half as Lebanon Valley escaped with a 10-6 MAC Commonwealth victory Wednesday evening at Mustang Stadium.

The loss was just the second for the Mustangs (5-8, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) in the in the 10-game series versus Lebanon Valley, who has won two consecutive versus Stevenson. It was also just the seventh loss for the Mustangs in league play since joining in 2013.

Neither team found the back of the net in the opening eight minutes before Brenna O'Neill gave the Dutchmen (9-4, 401 MAC Commonwealth) the first lead of the game. Sophomore Sarah Roerty won the ensuing draw control as senior Jamie Bittner responded with her fifth goal of the season just 11 seconds later.

Lebanon Valley scored four straight over the next 5:02 with two goals a piece by Veronica Venezia and Jaclyn Little to give the visitors a 5-1 lead before sophomore Mallory Davila stopped the run with her 16th goal of the season with 16:20 remaining.

The Dutchmen scored back-to-back goals, including the third of the game by Venezia, to give them their largest lead of the opening half at five. Senior MaryKate White netted her sixth goal of the season to get the hosts within four at the half off an assist from Davila.

Sophomore Carly Bowes scored her team leading 31st goal of the season just 1:38 into the second half to extend her goal streak to 13 games. After Lebanon Valley answered with a player up goal, Bowes scored her second of the game with 18:57 remaining in regulation.

After neither team scored for nearly 10 minutes, sophomore Kiely Bunce extended her point streak to 12 games with her 24th goal of the season on an assist from Roerty to get the hosts within two goals. But Emma Jones scored her team leading 50th goal of the season before Makenzie Kelley scored her second goal of the game to push the Dutchmen's lead to four with 6:17 remaining.

Both teams finished with 29 shots and 20 ground balls. Neither team scored on its free-position attempts as the Mustangs went 0-for-8 while the Dutchmen were 0-for-6. Lebanon Valley entered the week ranked 11th in the country on free-position percentage while Stevenson was ranked 22nd.

Sophomore Mack Ferguson finished with 11 saves in net.

Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, April 21 when the Mustangs travel to Arcadia for a MAC Commonwealth contest beginning at 1:00 p.m.
