Women's Tennis Downs Hood 7-2

STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson women's tennis team defeated Hood, 7-2 Tuesday.  

Sophomores Jenna Skove and Kelsi Mentzer dominated their opponents in No. 1 doubles by an 8-2 score, improving their record to 11-8. Skove, who was just named MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week for the second time this season, won her No. 1 singles match in straight sets by a 6-1, 6-3 margin. Mentzer overcame a one-set deficit to win her No. 2 match in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 10-3.

Freshman Megan Waskiewicz won her 10th match of the year in a 6-4, 6-4 triumph in No. 4, while junior Christina Endy won her second-straight by a 6-2, 6-0 score in No. 5.

In No. 6 singles, sophomore Nina Bretz picked up her third win of the year in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. 

Freshmen Taelor Brown and Rebecca Connelly cruised to their third-straight victory in No. 3 doubles, 8-0. 

The Mustangs (7-7, 4-1 MAC Commonwealth) face non-conference opponent St. Mary's (Md.) on Thursday, April 19. The match begins at 2 pm on the Greenspring courts.
