Mustangs' Three-Match Winning Streak Halted, Fall to Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Stevenson women's tennis team had its three-match winning streak halted in a 7-2 loss to host Messiah. The defeat was also the Mustangs' first MAC Commonwealth setback of the season.

Sophomores Jenna Skove and Kelsi Mentzer picked up their eighth victory of the year in No. 1 doubles by an 8-6 margin. The win evens up their record at 8-8.

Freshman Megan Waskiewicz and junior Kirstyn Davidson dropped a tough match in No. 2 by an 8-6 margin, while freshmen Taelor Brown and Rebecca Connelly fell by the same score in No. 3. 

Skove would later pick up the lone victory in singles play for the Mustangs in her 6-7 (1), 7-6 (0), 11-9 win in No. 1. With the victory, Skove now has four singles wins on the year. 

Davidson fell to 6-8 on the season in a 3-6, 5-7 setback in No. 2 singles, while sophomore Nina Bretz dropped her No. 6 match by the same score. 

Mentzer fell to 5-9 on the season after falling in No. 3 singles, 2-6, 2-6.

The Mustangs (4-7, 2-1 MAC) continue conference play in a road match against Lycoming on Saturday, April 14 at 1:00 pm.
