ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Stevenson women's tennis team evened up its record at 1-1 with a dominating 8-1 win over host St. Mary's (Md.).
Juniors Kelsi Mentzer and Jenna Skove picked up their first win of the year in No. 1 doubles, downing their opponents by an 8-1 score.
Senior Kirstyn Davidson and sophomore Megan Waskiewicz moved to 2-0 on the year after cruising to an 8-1 victory in No. 2 doubles.
The Mustangs won the other doubles match by default.
In singles play, Davidson won her No. 2 match in straight sets by a 6-1, 7-5 score. Waskiewicz picked up her first victory of the year, winning her No. 3 match in straight sets.
In No. 4 and No. 5 singles, both Mentzer and junior Nina Bretz shut out their opponents by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Stevenson won in No. 6 singles by default.
The Mustangs will hit the court next at the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championship, hosted by King's (Pa.) and Wilkes, starting on Friday, October 19.
