Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. - Stevenson men's soccer senior Jake Brown finished with five saves but the Mustangs were held scoreless for the fifth straight games as they dropped a non-conference contest versus Wilkes, 3-0, Saturday afternoon Schmidt Stadium.
The Mustangs (1-5-2) finished with 17 shots, two shy of their season high set in the second game of the season.
Brown was tested early as he came up with a pair of saves in the opening 10 minutes. In the 16th minute, a ball crossed by Camry Huff hit off a Stevenson defender to give the Colonels (4-4) an early 1-0 lead.
Following the goal, the visitors took the next four shots and three corner kick opportunities. On the third corner kick attempt, sophomore DR Medtart got a head to a corner kick by freshman James Vess but it went wide.
Wilkes found the back of the net for a second time in the opening half with a 26th goal as Huff hit a one-timer at the top of the 18-yard box on a chip in.
The hosts earned its first corner kick of the game with 23 seconds remaining but Brown came up his fourth save of the half.
Stevenson recorded three of the first four shots of the second half but Tim Gallagher came up with a pair of saves. Gallagher saved all four shots on net in the second half.
Just 26 seconds after a Mustang corner kick, Huff scored his second goal of the game in the 87th minute.
Stevenson returns to action on Friday, September 29 when the Mustangs open MAC Commonwealth play versus Albright at Mustang Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m.
