Box Score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Seniors Olivia Monteiro and Tori Bruno each scored four times as the Stevenson University women's lacrosse team posted an 18-8 triumph over Widener University in MAC Commonwealth action Saturday at Mustang Stadium.  The win extends Stevenson's win streak to three games.

Monteiro also added an assist, coming on Bruno's goal at the 26:29 mark of the first half, making her the fifth player in program history with 100 goals and 50 assists.  With five points, she now has 178 for her career, moving her into seventh place on the career points list.

Stevenson (6-6, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) also got three goals from freshman Carly Bowes, while classmate Mallory Davila and senior Mackenzie Reese each notched a pair of goals. Senior Brady Heher and freshmen Brianna Christie and Sarah Roerty each had single goals.

Widener (3-8, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth) was paced by three goals by Kristi Rohrer.

Stevenson jumped out to a 3-0 lead 4:47 into the game.  Monteiro needed just 21 seconds to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead, then after Bruno scored, Bowes made it 3-0 at the 25:13 mark.  The Mustangs held a 7-2 lead when back-to-back Rohrer goals at 9:20 and 8:27 cut the lead to three.  The teams traded the final five goals of the half with Davila scoring four seconds before intermission to make it 10-6 at the break.

The hosts scored the first four goals of the second half to open a 14-6 lead with 14:13 left on Heher's goal.  Kaylee Horchak stopped a 20-minute Pride scoring drought with 10:30 remaining, but the Mustangs reeled off the next four goals to increase the lead to 18-7 on a Bruno goal with 1:28 left.

Stevenson outshot Widener 36-24 and won 18 of 27 draw controls on the afternoon.  Freshman Mack Ferguson made eight saves in a complete game effort in goal for the Mustangs, while Grace Morales registered eight saves in 56:57 for Widener.  Roerty led Stevenson with four ground balls.

Stevenson plays its final home game of the regular season Thursday night when it hosts Alvernia in a 7:00 contest at Mustang Stadium.
