STEVENSON, Md. - Stevenson women's tennis freshman Nina Bretz picked up wins in both doubles and singles, but the Mustangs would fall to visiting Alvernia by a 7-2 score. With the loss, the Mustangs fall to 1-3 in MAC Commonwealth play.
Bretz and junior Colleen Martin picked up the first win for Stevenson (4-9, 1-3) in an 8-4 triumph in No. 3 doubles. The win brings Martin and Bretz's doubles record to 4-1.
Bretz would later win her No. 6 singles match in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-1. The victory brings Bretz's singles record in 6-8.
In No. 2 doubles, sophomores Christina Endy and Kirstyn Davidson lost a hard-fought match by an 8-5 score. The loss drops their doubles record to 4-5.
In No. 2 singles, Davidson lost a tough first set before eventually falling to her opponent, 7-5, 6-4. Endy fell in her No. 4 singles match in straights, 6-3, 7-5.
Freshman Jenna Skove suffered a 6-3, 6-3 setback in No. 1 singles, which drops her record to 5-8.
The Mustangs will look to get back in the win column when they take on Hood in a MAC Commonwealth road match on Wednesday, April 19 at 3:30 pm.
