Box Score 2 LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Stevenson University women's volleyball team posted a pair of 3-0 wins at the Lynchburg College Invitational Saturday, downing Methodist and Randolph in straight sets on Saturday. With the wins, the Mustangs extend their win streak to seven matches.
Stevenson (8-2) downed Methodist (1-6) by scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-14, while against Randolph (2-7) the Mustangs prevailed 25-18, 25-19, 25-18.
Against the Monarchs, freshman Katie Leftridge and junior Annika Schwartz each notched 10 kills, with Leftridge hitting at a .600 clip with one error on 15 attempts. Junior Lauren Weaver contributed eight kills. Senior Sara Bollinger and freshman Emily Castro each dished out 17 assists, while junior Megan Hren had a team-high 11 defensive digs, with junior Deanna Bradbury added eight. Castro and Schwartz each had four service aces as the Mustangs racked up 14 as a team.
Stevenson hit .400 in the opening set and .281 for the match.
In the nightcap, the Mustangs hit at least .300 in all three sets and .319 for the match, their second-best hitting effort of the season. Leftridge and Weaver each finished with 10 kills, while Schwartz added nine. Bradbury posted 15 digs, while Bollinger notched 18 assists and Castro 10. Bollinger also registered five service aces.
Stevenson returns home Tuesday night when it hosts McDaniel College in a 7:00 contest at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
