Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Four different players tallied at least three goals for the Stevenson women's lacrosse team as the Mustangs cruised to a 20-5 MAC Commonwealth victory over Hood in the regular season home finale Tuesday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.
The Mustangs (8-8, 6-1 MAC Commonwealth) improved to 16-0 all-time versus Hood and has outscored the Blazers, 202-29 since 2007. Hood has been held to five goals or last over the last six meetings.
Stevenson raced out to a 10-goal lead in the first 15 minutes as junior Olivia Monteiro scored three goals while senior Shelby Walter and sophomore Hollie Larrimore each tallied two. Sophomore Hana Tankersley scored her first goal of the season.
Sophomore Jillian Henry scored in her second straight game on an unassisted tally to close out the first half with the Mustangs leading, 14-0. It was the third consecutive game Stevenson has shutout Hood for a half as the Mustangs held the Blazers to zero goals in the second half in 2014 and 2015.
Hood (4-12, 0-7 MAC Commonwealth) got on the board in the second half with three straight goals from three different players. But junior Tori Bruno answer with three of her own in a 2:25 span to finish with four in the game, tying her career-high.
Monteiro finished with a career-high eight points on five goals and three assists while also totaling a game-high six draw controls. Larrimore and Walter each finished with three goals and one assist while Walter added three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Freshman Hannah DePadua took over for senior Maggie Lawder in the second half and tied her season-high with four saves. Lawder saved the lone shot she faced.
The Mustangs outshot the Blazers, 25-12 and won 19 of the 26 draw controls. The hosts also had a 16-10 advantage in ground balls.
Stevenson concludes the regular season on the road as the Mustangs travel to Widener on Saturday, April 30. Opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
