GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Stevenson women's lacrosse team managed just five goals and took only four second half shots as the Mustangs fell to No. 17 Messiah, 17-5, in a rematch of last year's MAC Commonwealth title game Wednesday afternoon at Starry Athletic Complex.

The 17 goals allowed by the Mustangs (6-8, 4-1 MAC Commonwealth) are the most they have allowed in three-plus seasons in the league as the team saw its four-game winning streak snapped. Stevenson has dropped the last three versus Messiah and four of the last five.

The two teams traded goals in a 24 second span, both on free-position shots. Stevenson was held to just two free-position opportunities after totaling 17 in its last game. The Mustangs have been held to five or less free-position shots in six of their eight losses this season.

After a goal by junior Brady Heher brought the visitors back within one with 12:29 remaining in the opening half, the Falcons (9-5, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) answered with a 5-1 run to end the period, including a player-up goal with just 33 seconds remaining.

The hosts scored three goals in the opening five minutes of the second half to build an 11-3 lead. Messiah held the Mustangs to just two goals in the second half.

Senior Shelby Walter extended her point streak to three games with an assist, her first of the season. She also recorded a caused turnover for the sixth straight game, finishing with two.

The Falcons were led by Allie Colson who totaled five goals and Shayna Delaney who recorded four goals and two assists. Stephanie Athens added four goals and one assist.

Stevenson returns home for two of its final three games as the Mustangs host Lebanon Valley on Senior Day on Saturday, April 23. Opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
