STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson women's tennis picked up its first win of the season with a 6-3 victory over Cairn. Freshman Nina Bretz picked up wins in both doubles and singles for the host Mustangs (1-3). This was Stevenson's first team victory since April 11, 2015, when they defeated Lycoming.
In No. 2 doubles, Bretz and freshman Kelsi Mentzer were dominant in their 8-2 victory. Bretz would then go on to win her No. 4 singles match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Sophomore Tracy Nguyen and junior Emily Herzog picked up the other doubles win for the Mustangs in their 8-2 triumph. Nguyen then swept her opponent in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Sophomore Christina Endy won her No. 3 singles match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, while junior Colleen Martin sealed the victory for the Mustangs with a 6-3, 6-0 win in No. 2 singles.
The Mustangs will conclude the fall season when they compete in the MAC Individual Championships, hosted by King's College and Wilkes University, starting on Saturday, October 15.
