First Half Penalty Kick Lifts Wilkes Past Mustangs, 1-0

Box Score

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. - A penalty kick in the 18th minute was the difference as the Stevenson men's soccer team dropped its second-straight 1-0 decision versus Wilkes Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.

The Mustangs (3-6-1), who have dropped three-straight, failed to score for the fourth-straight game. In the first six games of the season Stevenson totaled 14 goals but has gone 427:13 since without a goal.

Both team totaled 10 shots while the Colonels (2-6) held a slight 7-4 advantage in corner kicks while the two goalies combined for seven saves. But Michael Hasbrouck converted on Wilkes' first penalty kick of the season to give the hosts its first win in its last seven tries dating back to last season.

Junior Michael Tringali finished with three saves while senior Reid Hawkins totaled two of the Mustangs four shots on goal.

Tim Gallagher totaled three of his four saves for the Colonels in the second half.

Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, October 3 when the Mustangs travel to Arcadia for the MAC Commonwealth opener for both teams. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
