Mustangs Defeat Lebanon Valley to Earn No. 2 Seed in Conference Championship

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Stevenson men's tennis team won its regular season finale with a 6-3 conference road victory over host Lebanon Valley and with it, secured the No. 2 seed in next week's Commonwealth Conference Men's Tennis Championship.

Junior James Bishoff teamed up with junior Peter Hoblitzell to win their eighth match in a row with an 8-6 triumph in No. 2 doubles. Bishoff trailed after one set, but would go on to win his eighth singles match out of the last nine in a hard fought three set victory in No. 2 singles, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Hoblitzell was also victorious in his match, winning in straight sets over Lebanon Valley's Cody Manmiller in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-3. The win was Hoblitzell's eighth in a row.

Sophomore Bryan Gieselman was a straight set winner in his No. 1 singles match, 6-1, 6-2 over Jordan Shankroff, while junior Conrad Ellis took down his No. 3 singles opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Ellis has won six out of his last seven matches.

Sophomore Nicholas Hooke had to win an 11-9 tiebreak in the third set to pick up the other singles victory for the Mustangs.

Stevenson (8-6, 5-1 MAC) will face-off against Lebanon Valley again on Tuesday, April 28 when it hosts the Dutchmen in the semifinals of the Commonwealth Conference Championship at the Greenspring Tennis Courts. The match begins at 3:30 pm.
