STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson women's tennis team opened its Commonwealth Conference schedule with a 9-0 loss to Alvernia at the Greenspring Tennis Courts.
Junior Ashlyn Hawbaker won seven games against Alvernia's Cassandra Noray in No. 4 singles, but fell in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
In No. 6 singles, freshman Colleen Martin won three games in the first set of her 6-3, 6-2 defeat, while sophomore Ty-Chelle Williams took two games in the first set of her No. 2 singles loss.
Hawbaker and sophomore Ashley Pinter picked up two games in their 8-2 loss in No. 2 doubles. Martin and freshman Jennifer Garcia also won two games in their No. 3 doubles setback.
The Mustangs compete in their first conference road match of the year against Albright on Tuesday, April 7th at 3 p.m.
