Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's soccer junior Zachary Martin and freshman Denzel Seisay each scored twice en route to a 4-1 victory over Gwynedd Mercy as the Mustangs won their sixth-straight Saturday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.
The Mustangs (7-1) are off to the their best start in school history and have outscored opponents 27-10, including 12-3 at home.
Martin scored the lone goal of the first half after his cross following a short corner kick hit off the head of a defender.
Stevenson opened the second half scoring three goals in less than six minutes starting with the first career goal by Seisay. Senior Reid Hawkins headed a shot off a corner kick which was saved by Matt Chilcote but Seisay was there for the rebound.
Martin scored his second of the day after firing a shot from the middle of the box on a touch pass by senior Yianni Sarioglou. Martin has now scored a career-high three goals this season after scoring a combined three goals in his first two seasons.
Seisay notched his second of the day on an unassisted goal in front of the box. Martin and Seisay are the fifth and sixth players to total two goals in a game this season.
The Griffins (0-5) got on the board in the 79th minute following an unassisted goal by Danny Saba who found the back of the net following a rebound off a junior Daniel McGlone save.
Stevenson outshot Gwynedd Mercy 25-5, including 14-1 in the second half. The Mustangs also held a 13-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior Ryan Callinan earned his sixth win after totaling one save. Chilcote finished with seven.
The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday, September 17 when they travel to face Neumann in a non-conference contest beginning at 4:00 p.m.
