Nine Different Goal Scorers Highlight Mustangs 20-5 Victory Over Albright

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Highlighted by nine different goal scorers, including five by senior Marissa Meiklejohn, the Stevenson women's lacrosse team scored 16 first half goals en route to a 20-5 Commonwealth Conference victory over Albright Saturday at Mustang Stadium.

The Mustangs (6-4, 1-0 MAC) won their fifth-straight game of the season and picked up their ninth-straight in the Commonwealth Conference. The team is 9-0 in the conference since joining a season ago.

For the fourth time in as many games, Stevenson scored a first minute goal as junior Kathryn Merrick scored just 24 seconds into the contest on an assist from senior Leah Warner. Merrick has scored the first goal in three of those contests.

Sophomore Tori Wagner and junior Amanda LeGar would tally goals before Meiklejohn scored three-straight as the Mustangs led 6-0 in the games' first 14 minutes.

Giuliana Rizzotti would put the Lions (5-6, 0-1 MAC) on the board with a free-position tally at the 18:57 mark before Stevenson fired off 16-straight goals, including four in a 1:59 span, to lead 16-1 at the break. The Mustangs outshot Albright 21-4 and grabbed 14 of the 18 draw controls in the first half.

The Mustangs finished the game 5-for-8 on free-position shots as Albright totaled seven cards in the game, including two red.

Freshman Olivia Monteiro finished with a career-high four points on two goals and two assists while fellow classmate Tori Bruno tallied her first career goal.

Warner, who finished with six points on three goals and three assists, now has 233 career points, just nine shy of tying the school record. She also has 147 career goals which sits four shy of tying the record and 86 career assist which is eight shy of tying the school record.

Meiklejohn, who finished with six points on five goals and one assist, now has 146 career goals which is five shy of tying the school record. She also has 194 career points.

Stevenson returns to action next Saturday, April 5 when it travels to face Alvernia for a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 1:00 p.m. Last season the Mustangs defeated the Crusaders 19-5.
