Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - In his final home game, Stevenson football senior Anthony Reid hauled in seven receptions for 193 yards and two touchdowns as the Mustangs posted their third win in four home games this season with a 33-14 victory over Wilkes Saturday at Mustang Stadium on Senior Day.
With the win, Stevenson (6-3, 5-3 MAC) has assured itself of a winning record for the first time in school history. With five conference wins, the Mustangs need just one more to equal their amount from the first three seasons combined.
Stevenson jumped out to a 17-0 lead with 14:35 left in the fourth quarter following the second of back-to-back touchdowns by Reid, this one, a 43-yard pass from freshman Jeff Farrah. The two also connected on a 60-yard touchdown with 13:32 to play in the third quarter.
Farrah finished the day 14-of-30 for a career-high 252 yards and two touchdowns. His 252 yards are the most by a Mustang quarterback since senior Zach Jefferson threw for 283 against Lycoming in last year's season finale.
Today also marked the first time since the fifth game of the 2011 inaugural season that Stevenson has thrown for over 200 yards in four-straight games.
Looking for a repeat of last season when it rallied from a 17-0 fourth quarter deficit to win 21-17, Wilkes (2-7, 2-6 MAC) scored on its first two possessions of the fourth quarter on Saturday to pull within three at 17-14. The second one came on a 48-yard pass from Ryan Dailey to Jeremy Hartman followed by a two-point conversion with 6:39 remaining.
However, the Mustangs quickly squashed any hopes of a repeat as sophomore Devonte Williams returned the ensuing kickoff 59 yards down to the Colonels' 9-yard line before Farrah scored from eight yards out two plays later to put Stevenson back on top by 10, 24-14
The Mustangs would add a 27-yard run by freshman Brian Matthews and a safety to provide the final 19-point margin of victory.
With just 10 points between the two teams entering the fourth quarter, the two combined for 37 points and 223 yards of total offense in the fourth quarter alone. Stevenson accounted for 118 yards with a balanced attack that featured 63 rushing and 55 passing.
Led by a career-high 12 tackles, including two for loss and a forced fumble from junior Razonte Dunn, the Mustang defense held Wilkes to just 55 yards rushing and 3-of-17 on third-down conversions while forcing three turnovers and seven punts. Sophomore Cory Pietrzyk added 11 tackles with two for loss and a fumble recovery while senior Tyler Krug had seven tackles.
Looking to improve its stature for an ECAC bowl bid, Stevenson concludes the regular season next Saturday, November 15 at Misericordia. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
