Box Score READING, Pa. - Led by a combined 37 points from sophomore Stephanie Martinez and junior Kayla Kelly, the Stevenson women's basketball team posted a 62-54 victory over Commonwealth Conference opponent Albright Wednesday at George C. Bollman Center.
The Mustangs (6-6, 4-1 MAC) broke their two-game losing skid, shooting 37.7 percent from the field, including 44.1 in the first half, after shooting a combined 28.6 percent in their last two games.
Martinez started the scoring with the first of her four three-pointers giving Stevenson a lead it would never relinquish.
Following two free throws from junior Kyarra Harmon, the Mustangs held their largest lead of the game, 38-19 with 3:48 remaining in the first half.
The two teams would combine for 12 turnovers and just four points in the first six minutes of the second half before trading baskets over the next five.
The Lions (7-4, 2-3 MAC) would get as close as four points with 4:13 remaining but a three-pointer by Martinez would push the lead back to seven.
Harmon finished with seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds while Kelly added five assists for the third time this season.
Kelecia Harris, the reigning Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year led all scorers with 20 points and nine rebounds. She also added three blocks.
With 24 Albright turnovers, the Mustangs have now forced at least 20 turnovers in 11 of their 12 games.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, January 11 when they host Commonwealth Conference opponent Lebanon Valley beginning at 3:00 p.m. Last season the Dutchmen swept the Mustangs.
