Box Score WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Stevenson men's soccer junior Yianni Sarioglou (Perry Hall, Md./Calvert Hall) scored his team leading third goal of the season but two second half goals by Eric McAnena gave host Wilkes a 2-1 victory over the Mustangs Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
Stevenson (2-1-1), who fell for the first time this season, has only allowed three goals in four games. Sophomore Kenneth Hersey (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) allowed his first goals after starting the season with 200 shutout minutes.
The Mustangs held a 1-0 halftime lead with a goal by Sarioglou 23:27 into the game on an assist by junior Andrew Garner (Owings, Md./Northern).
The Mustangs outshot the Colonels 16-12 including 8-3 in the first half.
McAnena tied the game for Wilkes (2-1) on an unassisted goal 7:18 into the second half. He would later scored the eventual game winner 12:34 later, unassisted.
The 2-1 deficit marked the first time in 223:08 minutes this season that Stevenson has trailed. They have outscored their opponents 10-3.
Hersey finished with two saves while his counterpart Patrick Loube had eight.
Stevenson will travel to face Marywood in a non-conference match-up on Sunday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
