OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Highlighted by touchdowns from four different players, including a 69-yard pass from sophomore John Gasparovic to freshman Cortez Taylor, the Stevenson football team scored 31 fourth-quarter points to snap a four-game losing streak with a 48-3 over Misericordia Saturday at Mustang Stadium.

With the win, Stevenson (4-4, 3-4 MAC) picked up his fourth of the season, matching its win total from the first two years combined. The team's 45-point victory was also the largest in school history.

After the Cougars took a 3-0 lead on a 36-yard field by Patrick Newins with 9:42 remaining in the first quarter, the Mustangs scored the game's final 48 points as their defense surrendered just 201 yards of total offense, including a mere 68 passing. Misericordia was also just 3-of-15 on third-down conversions.

Senior Charlie Cornell tied the game with a 32-yard field goal with 3:54 to play in the opening quarter before junior Marcus Holley scored the first of his three touchdowns with a 10-yard run with 1:00 minute left in the first to give Stevenson a 10-3 advantage.

Holley finished the game with 145 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He has now rushed for over 100 yards in each of the last three games, totaling 411 yards and six touchdowns.

Holley opened the second half with a 5-yard touchdown run to put the Mustangs in front 17-3 with 12:17 remaining in the third quarter before they would erupt in the fourth.

Stevenson scored the first 10 points of the fourth quarter in a span of just 1:03. Senior Tre'von Wilks picked off Jeff Puckett on the first play of the fourth quartyer to set up a 9-yard touchdown run by freshman Trey Lee with 12:32 to play.

Misericordia (0-8, 0-7 MAC) then fumbled the ensuing kickoff that was recovered by freshman Jimmy Lauer, setting up a 33-yard field goal by Cornell, his second of the game. Through eight games this season, Cornell is a perfect 9-of-9 on field goal attempts and has totaled a team-high 50 points. His 12 points against the Cougars was the most by a kicker in school history.

The Mustangs capped the scoring with 3:07 left in the game when junior Nigel Stanford scored his first career touchdown on a 9-yard run on the first play after senior Byron Barnes blocked the Cougars' punt on fourth-and-4 at their own 31-yard line.

Taylor finished with four catches for 99 yards and one touchdown while senior Jeromie Miller also had four receptions for 86 yards. Miller also totaled 75 yards on four punt returns, including a 51-yarder in the fourth quarter.

Stevenson travels to Lebanon Valley next Saturday, November 9 for a 1:00 p.m., kickoff with the Dutchmen at Arnold Field.
