FREDERICK, Md. - Stevenson field hockey junior Caitlin Dempsey (Fallston, Md./Fallston) totaled a career-high five points with a goal and three assists to highlight six different goal scorers as the Mustangs scored a season-high seven goals en route to a 7-0 victory over Hood Wednesday at Thomas Athletic Field.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Stevenson (8-6, 2-1 MAC) who moved within two games of tying the school record for wins in a season. It was also the team's fifth shutout this year.

The Mustangs' seven goals were the most by the team since a 7-1 victory versus Wilson at Mustang Stadium on Sept. 8, 2012. It was also their seventh consecutive win against the Blazers since the two teams were members of the Capital Athletic Conference in 2007.

For Dempsey, she now has eight assists and 32 points this season, moving her into a tie for second-place on both lists for a single-season in school history. She is three shy of the school record for both as well.

Dempsey now has 50 career points, ranking her eighth all-time in school history.

Meanwhile, junior Alison Kagel (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) finished with a career-high four points, totaling two goals for Stevenson, both of which were assisted by Dempsey.

Sophomore Melissa Doering (Street, Md./North Harford) scored the game-winner off a rebound just 1:52 into the game before sophomore Amy Tamarana (Toms River, N.J./Toms River) scored her third of the year 10 minutes later to up the lead to 2-0.

Kagel scored her first of the game less than two minutes later before sophomore Rebecca Moreland (Parkville, Md./Mercy) added her third goal of the season to give the Mustangs a 4-0 halftime lead.

Dempsey and Kagel each added second-half tallies before freshman Taylor Burrier (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) scored her first career goal with just under five minutes to play.

All four keepers saw action in goal for Stevenson who outshot Hood, 26-1. Neither one was required to make a save as the lone Blazer shot resulted in a defensive save by freshman Nicole McDiarmid (Bel Air, Md./Fallston).

Ying Van Schaik stopped nine shots for the Blazers (3-9, 0-3 MAC).

Stevenson returns home to face Alvernia on Saturday at Mustang Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m.
