Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. - Stevenson men's soccer senior Kevin Rama (Upper Marlboro, Md./DeMatha) netted his first goal of the season to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead, but Washington and Lee scored the equalizer with under five minutes left before netting the game-winner with just 13 seconds left in the first overtime to edge out a 2-1 victory Saturday at Watt Field.
Stevenson (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season and its first of back-to-back match-ups against the highly-regarded Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The team travels to Eastern Mennonite on Sunday.
Rama became the seventh different player to score a goal for the Mustangs this season. His unassisted tally in the 59th minute was his third goal in two seasons in a Stevenson uniform.
The Mustangs looked primed for their second 4-0 start in the last three seasons until Zachary Clarke corraled a loose ball in the box with only 4:07 remaining in the second half and slid it past Stevenson freshman Kevin Westenberg (Baltimore, Md./Towson) who was making his first career appearance in goal.
Westenberg played the game's final 35:12, allowing two goals and making one save.
After tying the game and forcing overtime, Clarke also had a hand in the game-winner, lobbing a corner kick into the box where Zach Colby headed it into the goal at 99:47 to keep the Generals (3-0) undefeated on the season.
Sophomore Pat Carey (Brooklyn Park, Md./North County) made his third start in goal this season for Stevenson and made four saves in the first 64:35 before giving way to Westenberg.
The Mustangs head to Harrisonburg, Virginia on Sunday for a 2:00 p.m., start against Eastern Mennonite.
