YORK, Pa. - Stevenson women's tennis senior Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) posted the team's only two victories on Monday at No. 2 singles and at No. 2 doubles with junior Susannah Hoblitzell (Towson, Md./Towson) as the Mustangs dropped a CAC contest at York (Pa.), 7-2.
Eyler recorded a win in straight sets at No. 2 singles for Stevenson (4-5, 1-4 CAC), defeating Megan McCullin, 6-2, 6-1.
At no. 1 doubles, Eyler teammed with Hoblitzell and posted their second consecutive conference doubles victory versus Katelyn Acker and Samantha Brenner. After trailing 3-0 after the first three games, the duo came back to win 8-4.
Sophomore Jordan Rupard (North Beach, Md./Southern) competed in the last match of the afternoon against Brenner at No. 3 singles. After winning the first set convincingly, she fell in the second, 7-5.
Since the Spartans had already won the match, the two played a tiebreaker in the third set with Brenner edging out an 11-9 victory.
The Mustangs resume action tomorrow when they host local rival McDaniel at the Greenspring Tennis Courts beginning at 3:30 p.m.
