ANNVILLE, Pa. - Despite a win by Stevenson women's tennis senior Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) at No. 2 singles, the Mustangs dropped their final match of the regular season on Thursday, losing on the road to future Middle Atlantic Conference rival Lebanon Valley, 8-1.
Eyler defeated the Dutchmen's Lauren Fulmer in a third-set tiebreaker to win the match, 6-4, 3-6, 10-3. Ironically, Eyler is 10-3 this season and has won eight of her last 10. She is 8-2 at No. 2 singles this year and 6-1 in non-conference contests.
Aside from Eyler's victory, sophomore Jordan Rupard (North Beach, Md./Southern) took the most games off her opponent at No. 3 singles, winning four in the second set against Mary Kate Lemon before falling 6-0, 6-4.
Stevenson, which earned the sixth-seed in the 2012 CAC Women's Tennis Championship after Frostburg State defeated Hood 5-4 on Thursday, will travel to St. Mary's (Md.) in the first round on Saturday.
