OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson women's tennis team posted a 0-9 sweep over non-conference rival, Trinity (1-9) this afternoon at the Greenspring Tennis Courts. The sweep marks the first sweep for the Mustangs (6-7, 2-5 CAC) since they swept Wesley College on April 1.
In doubles action, all three Mustang teams posted 8-1 victories. At No. 1 doubles, senior Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) and junior Susannah Hoblitzell (Towson, Md./Towson) defeated Trinity's Nataly Marcias and Rebecca Auleus. Sophomore, Jordan Rupard (North Beach, Md./Southern) and junior Megan Heagy (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) teamed up to defeat Lakia Meriwether and Stefanie Merki. At No. 3, sophomore Katie Fersch (Mechanicsburg, Md./Chopticon) combined with freshman Nichole Young (Smyrna, DE/Smyrna) to beat Audrey Wadji and Bola Akinrimisi.
Four Mustangs also defeated their opponents in straight sets without conceding a single game. Eyler, Rupard, freshman Svetlana Widell (St. Michael's, Md./St. Michael's), and Fersch all posted 6-0, 6-0 wins at No.2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles, respectively.
The Mustangs resume action on Thursday where they take on future MAC conference rival, Lebanon Valley.
