Box Score 2 ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Stevenson women's volleyball senior Avery Gabbard (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) totaled 32 kills and 13 digs, while junior Christine Isenberg (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) totaled 29 kills and eight digs to lead the Mustangs in a pair of straight-set victories over Hollins and Randolph on the first day of the Seahawk Invitational Friday.
Stevenson (31-2) defeated Hollins in the opening match of the day 25-13, 25-16, 25-17 and Randolph in the nightcap 25-20, 25-14, 25-13, extending their winning streak to 15.
The wins made it four straight over opponents from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Previously, the Mustangs were 0-7 against the ODAC.
Gabbard's 17 kills against Hollins is a season high, two off her career high of 19 set as a freshman at St. Mary's (Md.) on Oct. 24, 2009.
Sophomore Megan Miller (Middletown, Del./St. Georges Tech) registered three block assists, while Gabbard added two block assists.
Junior Jessica Gieselman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) had 38 assists in the opener.
Hollins (6-20) was led Ally Reed who had eight kills and 11 digs.
Isenberg's 17 kills against Randolph is also a season high for her, four away from her career mark of 21 a season ago versus FDU-Florham on Sept. 11, 2011.
Gieselman had 35 assists, while sophomore libero Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) had a game-high 13 digs.
The Wildcats (7-23) were led by Grayce Darden with five kills and four block assists.
Stevenson will face Commonwealth Conference foe Lycoming at 1:00 p.m. in a non-conference affair, followed by host St. Mary's (Md.) at 5:00 p.m.
