WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Stevenson men's soccer junior Christopher Panian (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 47th minute to lead the Mustangs to a 1-0 Commonwealth Conference road victory over Lycoming Saturday at Shangraw Complex.

With the win, Stevenson (7-8, 2-3 MAC) moved one-game below .500 for the season while picking up its first road win since a 3-1 victory over Neumann on September 5.

Freshman Kenneth Hersey (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) tied a career-high with eight saves, making four in each half as the Warriors held a 20-13 advantage in shots. Hersey also had eight saves in a 3-2 overtime loss at Lebanon Valley on October 3.

Saturday's game was rugged, physical contest as the two teams combined for 22 fouls as well as four yellow cards and two red cards, all of which were assessed to Lycoming (4-6-2, 1-3-1 MAC). The Mustangs were whistled for 13 fouls.

All of the Warriors' cautions came in the second half after Panian gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.

Panian is now 2-for-2 on penalty kick opportunities this season as he also converted a chance in last Saturday's 2-1 overtime victory over Arcadia on Mustang Stadium.

Stevenson has now converted its last three penalty kick opportunities. Prior to the team's two attempts this season, sophomore Yianni Sarioglou (Perry Hall, Md./Calvert Hall) converted a chance in the 108th minute of a 1-0 overtime victory versus Marymount (Va.) at Mustang Stadium back on Oct. 15, 2011.

The Mustangs are 3-for-4 on PK's the last two seasons.

The game was the fourth-straight decided by just one goal for Stevenson and the eighth this season. The team is now 3-5 in game decided by one goal this year and 2-2 over the last four.

The Mustangs return home to face Elizabethtown on Wednesday at Mustang Stadium beginning at 4:00 p.m.
