Box Score SALISBURY, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball senior Daniela Poss (Brookeville, Md./Good Counsel) totaled a team-high 12 points and six rebounds off the bench, but an 13-0 run midway through the second half proved to be the difference as Salisbury posted a 66-57 victory Saturday at the Maggs Physical Activities Center.
The Sea Gulls (5-3, 3-0 CAC) held a 45-34 edge in rebounding and scored 22 second chance points off of 22 offensive rebounds en route to winning its third-straight and second at home.
Salisbury is one of three teams in the CAC with undefeated conference records, joining York (Pa.) who is 4-0 and Mary Washington who is also 3-0.
Leading 38-36 wih 13:58 remaining in the second half, the Sea Gulls used 13-0 run to take a 15-point advantage at 51-36 with 7:52 to play. The Mustangs were 0-for-8 from the floor during the run while committing six of their 22 turnovers.
Stevenson (4-5, 0-3 CAC) used a 16-5 run to cut its deficit to six at 61-55 on a jumper by freshman Kayleigh Guzek (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) with 1:19 to play, but that would be as close as the Mustangs would get as Salisbury hit 5-of-6 from the free throw line to provide the final margin of victory.
Freshman Pee-Jay Gunn (Cheltenham, Md./Frederick Douglas) also had a team-high six rebounds to mark a new career-high and go along with three assists and three steals in her first career start.
Guzek and junior Rayshell Parker (Odenton, Md./Meade) each had nine points while freshmen Kyarra Harmon (Waldorf, Md./North Point) and Kayla Kelly (Ellicott City/Centennial) each had a career-high seven points.
Josie Hildebrand led the Sea Gulls with a game-high 14 points while Anna Hackett had 11 points. Both grabbed five rebounds. Katie McGahagan had nine points, a game-high nine rebounds and five steals.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday with non-conference contest versus Catholic at Owings Mills Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m.
